The Fellows

Andrew and Ryan met in 2002. It was nerd love at first sight. Teaching children’s programs at a local science centre, there was symmetry in the way they looked at the world. Being part of the solution, learning and educating others about the problems, and thinking creatively about the future became the foundation of this rapport.

Andrew and Johnny met in 2005 at college for Television Broadcasting. Johnny’s exuberant personality and innate ability to connect with every person he meets was exactly what Andrew was looking for. Johnny’s film expertise, willingness to try new things and love for people would be a key asset in bringing this project to a reality.

ANDREW SHEPPARD

Back in the summer of 2007, while working on the Discovery Channel hit show Survivorman, Andrew had an idea during lunchtime with coworkers. It was simple, but the immediate reaction from his peers was “Yeah, that could work.” He is now at the point in his life where his skills, knowledge and experience are able to be put towards projects that can successfully help others

In his short time working in the television industry, Andrew has accomplished many of his early life’s goals. Working on the Discovery Channel hit show Survivorman, he has had the privilege to experience a show’s production on many levels working alongside Les Stroud, a pioneer in documentary filmmaking. Now in production of a new series for Discovery he has found his place in the field where he gets the privilege to experiences one of his greatest interests; traveling.

“I’ve spent my life going against what people say is possible and proving them wrong. I have been told this is not possible, they will be wrong.”

RYAN PERRY

Smart, educated, committed: Ryan’s passion for helping people led him into the teaching field. After three years of teaching high school chemistry, math and computer science, he knew he had to take it to the next level. With a comfort of speaking in front of crowds, earned from years of speaking engagements while working at a Science Centre, Ryan has grown into the perfect on-camera Science guru.

Ryan has come to the project after having worked with Andrew and Johnny on multiple projects, both as a camera operator and photographer.  His creativity and entertaining presence coupled with his desire to help others and his knowledge of the current global issues adds an important dynamic to the trio.

“I believe in the synchronicity of nature: by helping one person locally, we help the greater picture globally. Everything is connected…I’m also here to make sure everyone comes home alive.”

JOHNNY OKKERSE

Spend five minutes with Johnny, and he’ll have you laughing.

A freelancer in the television and film industry for three years, Johnny’s produced and directed multiple indie music videos with Andrew and Ryan. A music aficionado, his favorite past times are being the road trip DJ while chasing the next epic adventure with his friends.

This will be Johnny’s first time leaving the Country. It will be a test of his mental strength, his endurance, and his ability to actually spend one night in a tent.

“I’m tired of TV being crap. "Reality TV" these are shows that are making us worse people.I want to make a show that will make people get off their ass and do something”
